Warm Homes Grant Available

Green energy, North Yorkshire Council, Solar

North Yorkshire Council has launched The Warm Homes: Local Grant (WH:LG), a government-funded scheme to help low-income households improve the energy efficiency of their homes. The scheme may support upgrades such as insulation, low-carbon heating systems, solar panels, and other energy-saving improvements for privately owned homes.

The scheme aims to: reduce energy bills; deal with fuel poverty and support the UK’s net zero carbon emissions target by 2050

North Yorkshire Council has been given funding from the government to deliver local improvements. However, funding is limited and subject to availability. They are focusing funding on homes where improvements are straightforward and cost-effective in these property groups: Council Tax bands A to D and standard property type and construction.

The Council believes that this provides the greatest benefit to the most vulnerable households, helping people to stay warm and reduce energy bills.

They continue to work with national partners to highlight the limitations of the current scheme and push for special support for the complex and hard-to-treat properties that exist in some areas of the county.

You may be able to get support if you meet specific income and property criteria and you can get more details from the NYC’s web site at: www.northyorks.gov.uk/whlg
