Our Transport group is exploring ways to provide electric vehicle(s) for use by the community through a vehicle share scheme and maximising the use of community vehicles – with Covid-19 safety built-in. We are keen to work with other organisations and are in discussion with, for example, AgeUK North Craven.
We are supporting the Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line (FoSCL) in raising issues to Northern Rail regards the impact of rail timetabling choices.
We are also pursuing an increase of publicly available electric vehicle charging points with the energy group, bicycle storage, the use of e-cargo bikes and are starting to assess the impact of the Dept for Transport’s recently published transport de-carbonising plan as well as the government’s ‘Bus Back Better’ strategy and cut-off dates for new petrol and diesel cars, for our rural communities.
During August and September 2021 we distributed a transport and energy survey to seek feedback from local residents, which we will use for future planning both of ACE’s and other organisations such as Settle Town Council.
Paul Cochrane, survey lead, gave a presentation about the survey’s findings at our January 2022 Green Cafe . You can watch the recording here: https://youtu.be/-aMAy8Tzkjk
