The Magic of Soil

June 10 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

June’s Green Cafe is part of ‘Settle Great Big Green Week’ and features a presentation about the importance of soil health.

Our speaker, Martyna Krol, will take us through some facts about soil, what makes it alive and abundant and how soil can help us to grow more nutritious food. Discover how we can adapt our gardening to help protect the soil from extreme weather caused by climate change.

Martyna will also have some gardening tips with dry summer in mind, so whether you’re growing in a container or in a field, these may come useful and help you get the best of your growing season.

Martyna is a horticultural consultant with background in hydroponics, aquaponics and soil science. Through learning about soil chemistry and these urban farming methods, she started understanding the complexity of living soil and its effect on our gardens, health and the climate.

11am-12.15pm: Presentation and Q&A
