SUMMARY:ACE's September Green Cafe: young people and climate issues
DESCRIPTION:Join us from 10.30-11am to chat in small groups about topical issues over Fairtrade tea\, coffee and biscuits.\n\n\nFrom 11 we will be having a focus on the perspectives of younger people on the climate and biodiversity emergencies. We will be hearing from: \n\nFriends of the Dales (FotD) about their Creative Campaigners Group\, their volunteer network for people aged 20-30 who live locally and are interested in actively and creatively contributing to their environmental campaigns. Through such a close working relationship\, FotD also aim to better understand the viewpoints of younger people and bring more diverse voices to theri campaigning work.\nA member of Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust’s Environmental Youth Forum\, who will be showing a film that captures the journeys of our young people (12-24) as they engage with the diverse people and stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. The film will also highlight conversations with various stakeholders\, showcasing their ongoing efforts toward a sustainable future.\n\nAvailable throughout the morning: a recycling box for blister packs (only available at Green Cafes\, so please come into the Cafe and use the recycling box rather than leaving blister packs in the foyer of the Methodist Church). A bag for used toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes. \nFind out more about borrowing our thermal imaging camera for seeking out those draughty places in need of insulation to help cut your energy bills.\n\n\nThis is a free event\, all welcome. DESCRIPTION:We are organising a Settle and Area Community screening of the Peoples’ Emergency Briefing (PEB) film. \nThere are over 1400 screenings being organised across the UK in 2026. \nIt’s a new 50-minute film featuring Chris Packham\, leading climate and nature scientists\, a\nformer general and Jennifer Saunders – all being pretty frank about where things are\nheading and what can be done about it. \nBased around the National Emergency Briefing in London in November 2025.
