No fracking and invest in renewables say campaigners

Members of Fossil Free North Yorkshire (FFNY), which opposes fracking and is calling on North Yorkshire County Council pension fund to stop investing in fossil fuel and reinvest in renewable energy projects, will be taking part in the York Environment Week from 24 September to 2 October.

A spokesperson for the Group Dr. Margaret Jackson said that a strong public response was needed following the government’s announcement on 8 September immediately lifting the fracking ban in England announced in 2019 and a new round of North Sea oil and gas exploration licences.
