Towards Carbon Neutral Churches in Craven have a display in Skipton library until 25 November. It will then go on tour! Friends of the Dales Talk: Rural Bus Services in the 21st Century – challenges and opportunities, Wednesday 16 November 2022, 4.30pm Kevin Armstrong, will talk about how Dalesbus came into being and of the challenges and opportunities facing it and other rural bus services at a time of funding cuts, fuel price rises and a need for improvements in ‘greener’ travel. Cononley’s Cleaner, Greener group are hosting a coffee morning on Saturday 19 November in the morning at the village institute to talk about waste management – encourage recycling, composting, reducing waste etc. They have their own community freecycle group which is really effective, the village shop is great for refills, and we also support the Great British Clean up campaign every year.
Give Peat a Chance, The Folly, Settle (pictured), now until Friday 23 December 2022. In an exhibition that starts thousands of years ago and runs up to the present day, we look at how Dales peatlands formed; the wildlife that lives there; how our actions have affected our peatlands; and what we’re doing to restore them. This exhibition was created by the Yorkshire Peat Partnership

West Yorkshire Health and Care partnership will be recruiting 30 Health Equity Fellows including 5 Climate Change Fellows. They would really appreciate if you could provide any project ideas that you think would be relevant for the Fellows to undertake, they would also like to ask if anyone would be interested in volunteering to be a mentor. Please sign up to the NYCC North Yorkshire Now newsletter which will have the first few climate change ‘articles’ in, and then we will be developing a specific climate change e newsletter as we move into the new Unitary Authority – North Yorkshire Council – next year.
