Settle Church wins eco award

Barry White

Just two years after winning a bronze award, St John’s Methodist Church in Settle has achieved the silver Echo Church Award for its environmental work.  On Sunday 6 March the church will host Pam Martin as guest speaker at the 10.30am service. She is an assessor for the A Rocha project for Gold Awards and will be discussing ideas for further action. The Church welcomes anyone concerned about the climate emergency as well as to other churches in the area that are working towards an Eco Church award.

Commenting to the Craven Herald (3 March edition) on the award, Judith Allinson a member of St John’s and ACE said: ”The tick box system for Eco Church – looking at church life, buildings, energy etc. – has been very helpful in encouraging us to be proactive in doing things.”

St John’s will be one of the stallholders at the ACE Green Café meeting on cutting our carbon at Settle’s Victoria Hall from 10.00am – 1.00pm on Saturday 12 March.
