The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) is delighted to host a webinar to mark the launch of a new book; ‘Planet on Fire: A Manifesto for the Age of Environmental Breakdown’ by Mathew Lawrence and Laurie Laybourn-Langton. This will take place on Tuesday 27th April at 16.30-18.00 (BST) via Zoom. The event will mark the launch of this book which offers a radical manifesto for how to deal with environmental breakdown. In the age of environmental breakdown, the political status quo is struggling to adequately respond to the devastating and inequitably distributed consequences of the environmental emergency. We urgently need an alternative to bring about the rapid transformation of our social and economic systems. As we rebuild our lives in the wake of Covid-19 and face the challenges of ecological disaster, how can we bring into being a world fit for life? Planet on Fire offers a detailed and achievable manifesto for a new politics capable of tackling environmental breakdown.
This event will feature a discussion with the two authors, chaired by Fatima-Zahra Ibrahim, founder and co-executive director of Green New Deal UK.
