Decarbonising communities and businesses workshops – be part of the action

Barry White

Residents, community groups and businesses are being offered the free opportunity to attend workshops in Skipton offering help and advice on cutting carbon emissions and making savings on energy bills.

Alongside the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, North Yorkshire Council is running a number of workshops to co-design the following programmes:

  • building capacity for community climate action including project development, management support and funding for feasibility studies
  • place-based programme for sites such as business parks or industrial units including technology feasibility assessments, decarbonisation plans and capital grants for low carbon measures
  • net zero and reducing energy bills – wrap-around support to enable businesses to reduce their carbon emissions including low carbon diagnostics, specialist consultancy support, energy and resource audits, capital grants for purchases or premises adaptations

The Skipton workshops are being held on Tuesday 16 May. The sessions will include discussions around what communities and businesses need to reach net zero, types of support that should be provided, and what the programme involves.

The first of the two workshops developing business net zero programmes’ takes place on 16 May at SELFA, Ings CP School, Broughton Road, Skipton, BD23 1TE from 9.30am to 12 noon. The second ‘developing a community climate action programme’ takes place from 1.00pm to 3.00pm on the same day at the same venue.
