Churches act on climate change

Churches in our area are coming together this month to highlight and speak up about climate change in advance of CPO26 in Glasgow between 1 and 12 November. The summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

On 5 September, Climate Sunday, St John’s Methodist Church in Church Street, is holding a Climate Service at 10.30am to which all are welcome.

On 12 September services are being held at Methodist Churches in Ingleton (10.30am) and Hellifield (2.00pm). On Thursday 16 September at 7.00pm there will be an Ecumenical Creation Service at the Roman Catholic Church of St Mary & St Michael in Tillman Close, Settle BD24 9RA.

There is a national Climate Service at Glasgow Cathedral organised by Churches Together in Britain and Ireland, Christian Aid and other organisations, which will be broadcast online at 4.00pm on 5 September at: climatesunday.org
